ÇADER’in desteğiyle 5 Ocak 2026 tarihinde TMK Lefkoşa Environmental Club 10. sınıf öğrencileriyle Beşparmak Dağı’nda bir doğa koruma eğitimi etkinliği gerçekleştirildi.
Etkinlik, Irene Raab’ın Orman Dairesi ile birlikte organize ettiği “Kıbrıs’ta Doğa Koruma Kampanyası”kapsamında düzenlendi. Program boyunca öğrenciler Akdeniz bitki örtüsünü yerinde tanıma, çevre bilinci kazanma ve Kıbrıs’ın doğal ve kültürel mirasını korumanın önemi hakkında bilgi edinme fırsatı buldu.
Orman Dairesi’nden Salih Ercan ve ekip arkadaşları tarafından verilen eğitimlerde Akdeniz iklimine özgü orman ekosistemleri ele alındı. Ayrıca eski Orman Dairesi Müdürü Faik Kuyumcuoğlu, ormanların doğa ve insan yaşamı için taşıdığı önem hakkında öğrencilerle bilgi ve deneyimlerini paylaştı.
Etkinlik kapsamında öğrenciler, ağaç budama çalışmalarıyla orman bakımını uygulamalı olarak öğrenirken, orman yangınlarına karşı alınması gereken önlemler ve çam kese böceği ile mücadele yöntemleri hakkında da bilgilendirildi. Ayrıca yangın söndürme aracıyla gerçekleştirilen simülasyon çalışması sayesinde öğrenciler, yangınlara karşı doğru ve zamanında müdahalenin önemini deneyimleyerek öğrendi.
Bu etkinlik, öğrencilerin hem doğayı yakından tanımasını hem de çevre koruma konusunda sorumluluk geliştirmesini sağlayan değerli bir öğrenme deneyimi oldu.

TMK Nicosia Environmental Club Nature Conservation Training – Kyrenia Mountains – 5 January 2026
With the support of ÇADER, a nature conservation training activity was held on 5 January 2026 in the Kyrenia Mountains with Grade 10 students from the TMK Nicosia Environmental Club.
The event took place as part of the “Nature Conservation Campaign in Cyprus,” organized by Irene Raab in collaboration with the Forestry Department. During the program, students had the opportunity to learn about Mediterranean vegetation in its natural environment while developing greater environmental awareness and understanding the importance of protecting Cyprus’ natural and cultural heritage.
Training sessions were delivered by Salih Ercan and colleagues from the Forestry Department, focusing on forest ecosystems typical of the Mediterranean climate. Former Forestry Department Director Faik Kuyumcuoğlu also shared valuable insights with students about the importance of forests for both nature and human life.
During the activity, students participated in practical tree pruning exercises, learning about forest maintenance and management. They were also informed about forest fire prevention measures and methods used to control the pine processionary moth, an important forest pest.
A firefighting vehicle simulation further enhanced students’ environmental awareness by demonstrating the importance of correct and timely intervention in fire emergencies.
